CTO - Lead Front End Developer - Node - React - AWS - Machine Learning

This is an amazing opportunity for a hands-on CTO or a very strong Lead Front End Developer to join an established and heavily invested SaaS company who already have a global client list and can boast some of the most successful companies in the world as their clients.

Due to another successful round of funding and heavy investment from some of its stakeholders they are now looking to bring the CTO role in house.

Ideally, we are looking for a very strong Lead Front End Developer who has experience working with a Start-Up or a hands-on CTO with strong leadership and technical skills.
This is a key position and needs someone who has the technical experience, drive, and leadership acumen to help steer product development and technical delivery successfully through a lean/ agile product development process.
The CTO will be working closely with the Founder and CEO in a senior leadership role with influence over the direction of the company and autonomy and ownership over the evolution and development of the platform.
The Role

The CTO will lead and manage all technical aspects of the business in line with the business plan and the future ambitions of the business which may include product diversification.

As well as managing the offshore development team the role is a strategic one and you will be responsible for creating and implementing the product development vision and strategy.

You will be a member of the management team and will have a voice in the overall shaping of the business and the direction it takes.

On an operational level you will select, brief and manage suppliers who will carry out the day to day development with a long-term plan of recruiting an in house team.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritising development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development and deployment.
  • Select, brief and manage the work of development team using an agile process (external initially before internalising).
  • Set and control the technology budget.
  • Develop product roadmaps
  • Maintain project momentum and the maintenance of quality standards.
  • Able to R&D reporting and scripting for the running of the platform.
  • Robustly test output and manage the fixing of shortfalls promptly and cost efficiently.
  • Establish a governance process that meets legal and company requirements for customer information privacy, particularly in relation to data protection and online security.

Key Experience Required

We are looking for either a CTO with a few years' experience or someone that feels they are ready to take on the role that is used to leading teams developing SAAS cloud-hosted products.

Ideally, you will have:
  • Experience working with start-ups
  • Experience of running outsourced development teams and recruiting technical staff
  • Strategic thinker who is equally at home with detail and implementation
  • Supplier management experience
  • Budgetary control experience

Key Technical Skills
  • Extensive experience in system architecture, solution design, leading our technical team and technical strategy
  • Extensive experience in building full-stack web applications using node.js with a deep understanding of Javascript software development
  • Experience with GIT, AWS, setting up build pipelines & Linux CLI
  • Experience implementing front-end frameworks using React + Flux or AngularJS
  • Solid knowledge of web application development and standards - HTML, CSS/Less/Sass, Responsive
  • Knows RESTful API development inside-out
  • Security aware and focus using standards such as OAuth.
  • Postgres or similar RDBMS development and design
