Job Description
We are working for a very cool tech company that are in the market for an enthusiastic Senior Back-End Developer to join their highly motivated and talented team to work on their web platform.
Their team of back-end developers is building Java microservices using the latest AWS technologies creating systems that are highly available and can scale.
This platform is expanding globally, and with this expansion comes new challenges such as distributed data storage, and processing and performance improvements.
Their team operates at every stage of the software development life cycle - designing solutions, writing and testing code, and automating deployments. They collaborate with front end developers too, so you’ll need to have a good understanding of how the full stack works.
As well as building new features and functionality, they are migrating their original monolithic application to the microservices world using modern technologies like Serverless.
You will work on a range of technical problems such as decoupling functionality from our existing monolithic application, as we move towards a cloud-hosted microservice architecture, product expansion & scalability and discovery work for new products and features.
What You Will Be Working On:
- Apply your skills as a Java Engineer while delivering a modern and scalable platform
- Collaboratively design, build and maintain microservices for their Tribe and beyond
- Constantly seek ways to improve our systems and practices including the people you work with everyday
- Get your hands dirty with AWS, Kubernetes and other cloud technologies
- Write automated tests at unit, integration and functional level
- Leverage best practices in continuous integration and delivery
- Drive optimization, testing and tooling to improve data quality
- Effect a cross-functional agile team to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product initiatives
- Build services that generate actual, physical products that you can hold and touch!
- You are an engineer with a growth mindset who cares about improving both yourself and your team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- You care about great customer experience and want to collaborate both with other engineers and our internal users.
- You will have significant experience in Software Engineering using Java.
- You should have experience moving functionality into microservices and building cloud-based applications.
- You have an eye on the future and have explored the potential or even implemented solutions using a serverless architecture.
- You should have an appreciation of the design and implementation of robust APIs.
- You demonstrate a commitment to SOLID standards and engineering concepts like TDD.
- You care about building great things, seeking out and sharing knowledge.
